SALINAS VALLEY — Track and field athletes from South Monterey County have a chance to continue the season at a qualifying meet for the Central Coast Section trials and finals.

The qualifying meet will take place Thursday, May 27, at San Benito High School in Hollister. The top 16 marks from the Pacific Coast Athletic League can participate in the qualifying meet.

“It is good that some of our athletes can continue to participate,” said Greenfield coach Angel Villagomez. “I think that we will qualify a few athletes.”

Last Wednesday and Thursday local high schools completed their regular scheduled meets, with Gonzales and Soledad competing against host Gilroy, Christopher and North Monterey County.

King City and Greenfield closed out the regular season with a meet at San Benito High School.
