GONZALES — The Gonzales tennis team fought hard in a 7-0 setback against Oakwood. The Spartans scored multiple points for most of the singles and doubles matches.

Gonzales #1 singles player Athena Landeros lost in two games and #4 singles player Bianca Sanchez won the second set of a three set match. In doubles the team of Jacqueline Ramirez and Jesenia Arreola played well.

Bianca Sanchez 6-2, 2-6, 3-10. DOUBLES: Nititia/Enen Holf (OAK) def. Adilienne Ramirez/Valeria Reyes 1-6, 0-6; Estika Jain/Anaya (OAK) def. Jacqueline Ramirez/Jesenia Arreola 2-6, 3-6; Iris Innsomitle/Crystal Lee (OAK) def. Daniela Pacheco/Melanie Barrera 3-6, 0-6.

Last Thursday the Spartan lost 6-1 to the Pacific Grove Breakers. Bianca Sanchez earned a three set win over her opponent.

“Great win for Bianca,” said Gonzales head coach Rene Mendez. “It was an overall strong performance by the girls, especially the doubles teams.”
