New Pacific Coast Athletic League divisions announced

The newly formed Pacific Coast Athletic League (PCAL) has announced the divisions of play for next springā€™s baseball, softball, tennis and track and field teams.

Warriors receive awards

On May 24 the Fairview Middle School wrestling team from Gonzales completed the season with an awards night. The young Warriors featured many youngsters that were new to the sport of wrestling.

South County athletes compete at finals

The track and field season ended at the Central Coast Section finals for Pablo Villasenor of Gonzales, Noora Hautamaki of Soledad, and Dylan Oliveros of King City.

Trio qualifies for CCS finals

A trio of track and field athletes from Soledad, King City and Gonzales will represent their high schools and South County at Fridayā€™s Central Coast Section Track and Field Championships at Gilroy High School.

Spartan grapplers host awards night

On Wednesday, May 9 the Gonzales High School wrestling program hosted an awards night and banquet at the school cafeteria.

Spartans split games with Warriors

The Gonzales High School baseball team concluded the MTAL season last week with a loss and win over the Trinity Christian Warriors. Gonzales suffered a tough 9-7 loss to the Warriors then bounced back to defeat them 9-2 in the season finale.

Spartans track team competes in last MTAL championship

A sixth straight championship also meant an end of an era for the King City boys track and field team. The Mustangs won the Mission Trail Athletic League in what was the last championship meet for them in the MTAL as next year King City, Gonzales, Greenfield and Soledad will be members of the Pacific Coast Athletic League.

Gonzales swept by Padres; currently 8-8 in league

It was a rollercoaster ride for the Gonzales High baseball team last week as they held a four-run lead at home to the Carmel Padres in the fourth inning and lost the game, and then were no-hit by Carmelā€™s Dylan Houpt by a 13-0 score on the road.

Gonzales Warriors complete season

The Fairview Middle School Warrior Wrestling team completed the season by participating in the Coastal Counties League Championship on Saturday at El Sausal Middle School in Salinas.

Spartans battle Hawks

Wins over the Anzar Hawks last week helped the Gonzales baseball team improve to 5-6 in the Mission Trail Athletic League and 5-12 overall.
