A road win was hard to come by for the Gonzales Spartans and the Greenfield Bruin baseball team as the South County foes split their Mission Trail Athletic League games last week.

Playing in front of a supportive Homecoming crowd, the Gonzales High football team erupted for 19 unanswered points in the second half to defeat the Pajaro Valley Grizzlies, 40-20, on Friday night at Dick Force Stadium.

With the cross country running season right around the corner, the Gonzales High team joined other local teams to prepare the Toro Park Course in Salinas for the many competitions that will take place on the site.
