Salinas Valley News Briefs | Dec. 8, 2022

SOLEDAD — City of Soledad and Soledad-Mission Chamber of Commerce have postponed the 37th Annual Soledad Christmas Celebration for a second time due to inclement weather. A new date has not been announced for the festivities, originally planned for Dec. 3 before a rainstorm forced organizers to reschedule for Dec. 10. But another forecasted storm this weekend has triggered the latest postponement. The annual holiday celebration at Cesar Chavez Park on Front Street typically includes an outdoor parade and tree-lighting ceremony.

KING CITY — Monterey County Agricultural and Rural Life Museum (MCARLM) will host its annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 1 to 5 p.m. There will be free fun for the entire family, with food, drinks, crafts, hay rides, pictures with Santa and wreath making. MCARLM is located within San Lorenzo County Park, 1160 Broadway St., in King City.

SALINAS — Madonna Gardens Assisted Living and Memory Care, 1335 Byron St., in Salinas will host a small holiday celebration on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 1 to 3 p.m. Families are invited to take photos with Santa, make festive garlands and listen to Christmas caroling performed by His Grace Ministries International, while enjoying hot cocoa and cookies. Guests are asked to bring an unwrapped new toy to donate to Toys for Tots that afternoon or drop one off at the front lobby before Tuesday, Dec. 20. To RSVP, call 831-741-4638 or email [email protected].

GREENFIELD — The third annual Greenfield Santa Claus Surprise Visits will take place on Dec. 23 and 24, brought to the community by Greenfield Councilmember Yanely Martinez. This year everyone is invited to send a letter, not just children. Adults, senior residents or anyone who wants holiday cheer can participate. Send letters, including a return address, via Messenger to Martinez or via email to [email protected] by Dec. 10.
