GREENFIELD — Greenfield resident Jose Anguiano, 45, was sentenced Feb. 28 to a total of three years and four months in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Anguiano was sentenced to two years and eight months for assault by means of force likely to cause great bodily injury and vandalism. He also received an additional eight months in prison for violating his probation on a prior vandalism case.
On Dec. 3, 2024, at about 8 p.m., deputies responded to a report of vandalism at an apartment complex. The reporting party explained that her ex-boyfriend, Anguiano, broke her car windows. Two other vehicles were found damaged as well.
“A witness stated that she saw Anguiano break the vehicles’ windows with a rock,” according to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office in a news release March 4. “For this conduct, Anguiano was convicted of vandalism and placed on probation.”
On Dec. 7, 2024, at about 1:15 p.m., a CHP officer was on patrol on Highway 101 near Espinoza Road when he saw a white pickup truck parked along the shoulder. The officer spotted a male walking across the median to the other side of the highway and noticed that the rear window, left passenger window, front windshield and rear taillight were broken and shattered.
The truck owner informed officers that a male had walked toward his truck and began to throw rocks at it while he and his son were inside the truck. The owner explained that when he exited the truck to confront the male, the male left and walked across the highway.
Anguiano was found in a field nearby and identified by the truck owner.
“For this conduct, Anguiano was convicted of assault by means of force likely to cause great bodily injury and vandalism,” stated the DA’s Office.
