SOLEDAD — A Greenfield man was arrested Sunday night after fleeing from a traffic stop and ramming a secured gate at the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad, according to the Soledad Police Department.
At about 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 9, officers attempted to stop a vehicle for reckless driving, but the driver failed to yield and fled, police said.
A short time later, officers were dispatched to the Correctional Training Facility, where staff had located the vehicle on facility grounds. Staff attempted to communicate with the driver, who was “uncooperative and refused to provide identification or other information,” police said.
Soledad police officers arrived at the facility with assistance from the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office and Salinas Police Department. The driver refused to exit the vehicle and subsequently rammed a secured CTF gate, causing damage.
Officers used “less-lethal options” to safely remove the driver from the vehicle and take him into custody, police said.
The driver was identified as Sergio Ramirez, 25, of Greenfield. He was medically assessed and cleared before being booked into the Monterey County Jail.
