GONZALES — The Gonzales High wrestling team placed ninth out of 43 teams at the Nick Buzolich Classic Wrestling Tournament on Dec. 21 at Lincoln High School in San Jose.

Josiah Rosales Garcia placed first in the 215-pound weight class and finished with a record of 4-0. Teammate Gabriel Prieto placed second in the 165-pound weight class and finished with a 5-1 record at the tournament.

Last Friday and Saturday the Spartan boys’ wrestling team competed at the Pat Lovell Wrestling Tournament at Aptos High.

The Gonzales girls’ wrestling team competed last week at the Trojan Wrath, which took place at Alisal High School.

On Thursday, the Spartan girls traveled to the La Mazanita Ladies Classic in Watsonville, and the Spartan boys competed on Saturday at the Apple Cider Classic at Watsonville.

On Jan. 7, the Spartans will host Pajaro Valley and Soledad in a tri-meet at the Roger Fernando Gym.
