Pinnacles National Park receives field trip grant from National Park Foundation

Pinnacles National Park will receive a field trip grant for the 2018-19 school year from the National Park Foundation, the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service. This $5,200 grant will be used to help underserved schools with the cost of transportation to Pinnacles National Park.

Library event features Disney author

ā€œCoco in the Vines,ā€ the third annual South County event for the Foundation for Monterey County Free Libraries, is set to take place Saturday, July 7, at Scheid Vineyards and will feature the award-winning author Roni Capin Rivera-Ashford.

Summit to combat gang violence

Local families, youth and adults are invited to be a part of the annual Gang Prevention Summit on Saturday, Jan. 27, a free event at the Salinas Clubhouse of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Monterey County at 85 Maryal Drive, behind the Salinas Sports Complex. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

Feedback sought on police services

A new police survey was sent out to residents of Gonzales, Soledad, Greenfield and King City on Aug. 21 as part of the Strengthening Law Enforcement and Community Relations grant.

New bins combat opioid epidemic

New bins for unwanted or expired prescription medications have been installed at the King City, Greenfield and Gonzales police departments, providing a way for residents to properly dispose of these drugs before they fall into the wrong hands.

Members of the community came out to support the Gonzales Fire Department during its first Open House at the station on March 10.
