The carnival rides have arrived, 4-H and FFA exhibits have been turned in, sheep, beef, swine, goats and chicken projects have been groomed, all in preparation for the Salinas Valley Fair's start on Thursday.
Voters to decide on city tax increase
Voters of Gonzales will once again take to the polls to vote on Measure O, a transaction and use tax that if approved would raise the tax from 1/2 percent to 1 percent on Nov. 6.

City of Gonzales, Mann Packing team up for second wind turbine
A second wind turbine will soon join the Taylor Farms wind turbine in Gonzales. The City Council approved a wind turbine site lease agreement between the City and Mann Packing Company Inc. on Nov. 20.
