SOUTH COUNTY — The four South County pools are now open to splash into or learn how to swim.

Four pools make up the King City Recreation Department on Division Street. Patrons can jump off the diving boards in the diving pool, ride down the water slide, swim laps in the lap pool and, for those who are under four feet tall, hang out in the baby pool.

“We offer swim lessons for any age and level,” Pool Manager Manuel Correa said. “We have lessons at 11 a.m., noon, 4:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. We offer levels from introduction to parent taught and levels one through six for different abilities of swimming.”

The King City Pool will be continuing their teen nights again this year, but the dates are to be determined. The King City Pools are open every day.

Moving north, the Greenfield Public Recreation District Pool is also open every day of the week.

“We have been having a good turnout,” Lifeguard Regina Perez said.

“Last weekend I think we had 52 and our capacity is around 60 to 70. It was pretty good,” Perez added.

The Greenfield swim instructors just began their swim lessons session and a few pool parties have been booked as well.

“It’s been super busy, and we just want everyone to have fun since there’s not much to do in Greenfield,” Perez said.

The Greenfield Public Recreation District Pool is on Elm Avenue near Oak Park.

Traveling a little further north, the next pool is the Soledad-Mission Recreation District, also known as the Soledad Pool.

The Soledad-Mission Recreation District (SMRD) offers a wide variety of swim activities, from lessons to lap swim to water aerobics, and it is the home of the summer swim team Soledad Sharks.

The pool staff recently hosted their opening Summer Kick-Off event June 11. SMRD is the only indoor swimming facility in South County and also hosts “Movies in the Park” behind the pool on Saturday nights. Check out their Facebook to learn more. SMRD is located on Walker Drive in Soledad.

The last pool in South County is the Gonzales Community Pool, which hosts Dive-In Movies every Friday night and private pool parties. Swim Lessons are offered as well as recreation swim for those who want to enjoy the water on hot summer days.

The Gonzales Community Pool is located on Elko Street in Gonzales.
