Gilbert C. Lugo, 92, of Gonzales, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20, 2017  at Kindred Nursing Pacific Care in Salinas.
Gilbert was born in Litchfield, Arizona and lived in Gonzales for most of his life. Gilbert was a World War II veteran and served honorably in the European and North African Campaigns.  
He was married to Lupe L. Lugo for 63 years and is survived by five children, Gilbert Lugo Jr. of Virginia, Robert (Lita-Jane) Lugo of Fresno, Ruben Lugo of Soledad; Gloria (Larry) Simonetti of Visalia, Martha Lugo of Gonzales; 13 grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Jessica, Timothy, Lucas, Nicole, Jami, Joseph, Lindsay, Benjamin, Adrienne, A.J., Matthew; 21 great grandchildren; sister, Emma (Humberto) Ramirez of Campbell; and many nieces and nephews. He  was preceded in death by his wife, Lupe, and son, Richard (Ricky).
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, July 5 at 11 am at St. Theodore’s Catholic Church, Gonzales,  followed with burial at the Gonzales Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial.  
Memorial contributions in Gilbert’s  name may be sent to a favorite charity.
