SOUTH COUNTY — Soccer players from South County high schools dominated the Mission Trail Athletic League All-League boys soccer team.

MTAL champion Gonzales had five players on the first-team, Soledad had four players, King City had two players, and Greenfield had one first-team player.

Gonzales defender Kevin Laguna was voted at the Defensive Player of the Year, Soledad midfielder Alex Sanchez and Scott Tracy of Carmel were the the Midfielders of the Year, and Eduardo Ramirez of Greenfield was the Goalie of the Year.

Erik Mata of Gonzales and Carlos Esqueda of Soledad were Offensive Players of the Year, along with David Gonzales of King City.

MTAL Sportsmanship Award recipients were Raul Quiroz of King City and Martin Gutierrez of Stevenson.

First-team All-MTAL players from Gonzales were: Edwin Arias, Erik Mata, Francisco Leon, Felipe Torres, and Javier Martinez.

First-team All-MTAL players from Soledad were: Alexis Sanchez, Carlos Esqueda, Fabian Santano, and Alexis Ortiz. King City’s first-team players were Daniel Gonzales and Giovanni Jimenez and Greenfield’s first-team player was Eduardo Ramirez.

Earning votes on the MTAL second-team were: Andres Virgen, Ruben Uribe, Adan Aguilar (Gonzales); Jose Andres, Ruben Esqueda (Soledad); Marco Cuellar, Jonathan Mosqueda (King City); Scott Tracy, Tio Smith (Carmel); Sebastian Meza, Ivan Lucio, Gerardo Gomez (Greenfield); Daler Beisenbayev, Rolando Ortiz (Stevenson); Noberto Tolentino, Isais Guizar (Marina).
