MONTEREY COUNTY — A sealcoating project on Blanco, Reservation and River roads in Monterey County will begin Wednesday, May 29, announced the County of Monterey.
This work will take place on the following roads over the next two months:
- Blanco Road, from Davis Road to Luther Way;
- Reservation Road, from Davis Road to Portola Drive;
- Reservation Road, from East Garrison Drive to Panziera Road; and
- River Road, from 1.3 miles west of Chualar River Road to 2.6 miles west of Chualar River Road.
“Please watch for signage or traffic controls,” stated the County in a May 23 news release.
The work to be done includes performing localize pavement repair, applying asphalt binder on the existing pavement surface, followed by an application of gravel and placing new pavement delineation.
“This preventative maintenance work will provide a new wearing course on the existing pavement surface, extending the life of the pavement,” the County said.
Work will occur during the day between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Traffic control measures, such as lane closures and one-lane reversible traffic control, will be implemented during construction.
The public is advised to use alternate routes.
“Monterey County will make every effort to keep the community updated on the progress of the work and the impacts to traffic,” said the County.
The estimated construction cost is $3.6 million, and the project is funded by Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) and Measure X. Coastal Paving and Excavating from Monterey was awarded the construction contract for this project.
The project is expected to be complete by the end of July.
