HISTORICAL LECTURE

LOCKWOOD — A Zoom lecture on the William Randolph Hearst Ranching Era is planned by the San Antonio Valley Historical Association (SAVHA) featuring Lisa Cipolla, cultural resources program manager for Fort Hunter Liggett. The event is scheduled for Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m. SAVHA would normally have an annual fall lecture and meeting each November highlighting the history of the Southern Monterey County area, but Covid-19 conditions are creating the change to a virtual format. GRANT FUNDING

MONTEREY COUNTY — Hartnell Community College recently received a state grant for $500,000 to increase online access and innovation in online learning. The college has implemented plans to use the funding for specialized training for 31 full- and part-time faculty to quadruple the number of Hartnell courses receiving the California Community College system’s highest rating for online instruction.

CAMPUS REOPENS

SAN ARDO — Some students at San Ardo School returned to campus for in-person instruction Nov. 2, as part of the state’s waiver program for schools to return to face-to-face instruction even when within a county with full Covid-19 restrictions. The school installed check-in stations, plexiglass dividers, additional cafeteria tables for more spacing and additional outdoor picnic tables to help keep students and staff safe.
