LUNCHEON MEETING

KING CITY — Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated will host its monthly luncheon meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 11:30 a.m. at King Kora Restaurant, 611 Canal St., in King City. Scholarship recipients Aria Palomino and Jessica Rodriguez and their families will be the club’s guests. Palomino and Rodriguez are both graduates of Greenfield High School and will each receive a scholarship of $1,000. The graduates will discuss their college choices and plans for the future. NIGHT OUT

SALINAS VALLEY — National Night Out, an effort to strengthen connections between local police and the community, is set for Tuesday, Aug. 2, in all four South Monterey County cities. Hosted by each city’s police department, the event will take place during the following times: King City, 5-7 p.m., King City Fire Department, 422 Bassett St.; Greenfield, 5-8 p.m., Village Green Park, 98 S. El Camino Real; Soledad, 4-8 p.m., Soledad Community Center, 560 Walker Drive; and Gonzales, 6-8 p.m., Gonzales Police Department, 109 Fourth St. There will be food, music, games and other activities at each site.


ECONOMIC COMMITTEE

MONTEREY COUNTY — Residents interested in Monterey County’s economic future are being sought for the Economic Development Committee. There are openings for 12 members who must reside in, own a business located in or be employed in the county and represent one of the following key economic sectors: Micro Business, Minority Owned Business, Higher Education, Finance, Healthcare, Labor, Tourism, Climate and Clean Energy, Construction, Non-profit or Community Member, Agriculture, and Research and Development.
