SOLEDAD — A traffic stop in Soledad last month led to a pursuit and the arrest of a juvenile, according to the Soledad Police Department.
At about 9:20 p.m. on Aug. 28, a Soledad police officer attempted to stop a vehicle near Monterey and Third streets. The driver, later identified as a male juvenile from Soledad, failed to yield, leading officers on a pursuit.
The pursuit continued outside the city and ended near Highway 101 and Soledad Prison Road after the vehicle became disabled. Officers then took the juvenile into custody.
During the investigation, officers contacted the vehicle’s registered owner, who told police the juvenile did not have permission to drive the vehicle and requested that it be reported stolen.
The juvenile was booked and transported to Monterey County Juvenile Hall, where he faces multiple serious charges related to the incident, police said.
Soledad Police Department thanked the Gonzales Police Department and Monterey County Sheriff’s Office for assisting with the incident.
Police reminded motorists that failing to yield to law enforcement can pose a risk to drivers, officers and other members of the public. The department encouraged drivers who are signaled to stop to safely pull over and follow officers’ directions.
