GONZALES — Manzoni Vineyards and South County Animal Rescue partnered up to raise $3,500 to help save, spay, neuter and vaccinate homeless dogs and cats in south Monterey County on June 11.

The event “Pinot for Paws” drew over 150 people throughout the day and included a live band, After Hours Party Band.

The South County Animal Rescue volunteers are from each of the four South County cities and includes Lucy Jensen from Soledad; Dixie Gould, the King City animal control and code enforcement officer; Tina Daniel from Soledad; Eliazar Rubio from Soledad; and Carla Stewart, city council member and Soledad resident.

“Manzoni is a great partner and champion for the animals,” Stewart said. “In addition to hosting us, the Manzonis also generously donated 15 percent of their wine sales to us that day.”

The South County Animal Rescue’s next event will be an animal adoption day at Pet Fun in Salinas on Saturday, July 15. The time of the event is to be announced, and interested parties can check out SCAR’s Facebook page.
