GONZALES — A frog was the focus of the youth art class on July 6 at the Painte Studio on Fourth Street. Four Gonzales youth spent a part of their day Thursday working on a painting of a frog looking at a dragonfly. Painte Studio owner Corali Ramirez Garcia led the youth class.
Since opening the studio in March, Garcia spent the month of May very busy.
“I lead 30 paint classes in May, sometimes even two a day,” Garcia said.
Garcia leads youth art classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Adult classes are on Thursday nights from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Garcia says that she gets approximately eight to 10 students per class.
She comes up with ideas for the paintings through Pinterest, and the class today is of a Zebra selfie. The adult paint class is of a multicolored bird feather with a yellow-ish background. The following Tuesday is a painting of a “Jelly-bration” or jellyfish and is for both adults and youth. The next day, Wednesday, July 19, is “Rest Stop” and is a dragonfly resting on a flower.
Garcia leads paint classes throughout South County, including the King City Recreation Department, Soledad-Mission Recreation District, and at her studio in Gonzales.
