SALINAS VALLEY — Overnight construction on Highway 101 between Soledad and Greenfield is expected to cause intermittent lane closures and traffic delays beginning Sunday, Aug. 23, and continuing through late September.

Work will take place Sunday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. in both directions. Drivers should expect delays of 10 to 15 minutes.

The project includes upgrades at the Oak Avenue, Walnut Avenue, Livingston Road/El Camino Real, Arroyo Seco Road and SR 146 ramps.

According to Caltrans, the preservation work is intended to extend the life of existing pavement by improving skid resistance, limiting moisture and restoring a uniform surface and pavement markings.

Electronic message signs will alert motorists to the work. Drivers are advised to use caution, watch for flaggers and highway workers, and allow extra travel time.

The contractor is CalRise Builder Inc. of La Verne.
