Monterey County supervisor swears in as RCRC’s first vice-chair

MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez was elevated by his peers to serve as first vice-chair of the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC).

Lopez took the Oath of Office as administered by California Assemblymember James Gallagher on Jan. 18 as part of the 2023 Officers of RCRC.

“In combining unparalleled advocacy with innovative technical support, RCRC enhances the ability of rural county governments to deliver essential services to residents,” Lopez said. “Working with colleagues from across the state, I look forward to providing leadership and guidance to help further support California’s rural counties.”

Lopez joins Butte County Supervisor Doug Teeter, who will serve as chair; Modoc County Supervisor Geri Byrne, who will serve as second vice-chair; and Inyo County Supervisor Matt Kingsley, who will serve as the executive committee member at-large.

These newly installed 2023 Officers will lead the organization in championing public policies on behalf of California’s rural counties.

RCRC’s Board of Directors is headed by four officers composed of elected county supervisors from the organization’s 40 member counties. Monterey County has been a member of RCRC since 2019.
