SOLEDAD — In early December, an aluminum boat and trailer were reported stolen from Lake San Antonio in southern Monterey County.

Monterey County Park Rangers located video footage of a grey Toyota truck leaving with the stolen vessel and trailer.

On Dec. 26, a Monterey County sheriff’s deputy outside of Soledad spotted a Toyota truck parked on the road edge, attached to a similar trailer and aluminum boat.

The deputy contacted Valentin Hernandez, a 39-year-old resident of Soledad, who was standing with the boat. The deputy confirmed that the boat and trailer were, in fact, the stolen boat and trailer from Lake San Antonio.

Hernandez was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail for two counts of vehicle theft and an outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrant for possession of methamphetamine.
