Little League tourney begins this weekend for South Monterey County teams

MONTEREY COUNTY — The California District 9 2022 Tournament of Champions will begin play this Saturday for Little League Major and Minor teams in Monterey County.

South Monterey County teams participating in the TOC games are Greenfield, King City, Gonzales and Soledad.

In the Minors Division, Greenfield will start the single-elimination tournament at 1 p.m. on Saturday against King City at the National Little League field. The winner of the Greenfield contest plays on Monday, June 6, at 5:30 p.m. against Continental at American Little League.

Also on Monday, the Gonzales Minor White Sox team opens play at Atlantic Little Park against Saturday’s winner of the game between Manzanita and American.

Soledad will host the winner of Saturday’s game between Ferrasci and Hartnell at 5:30 p.m. on Monday in Gonzales.

After two more rounds of play for the winners, the tournament will conclude on Saturday, June 11, with the championship game at Hollister.

In the Majors Division beginning on Saturday, Soledad will play Hartnell at Ferrasci at 10 a.m., with the winner playing Gonzales on Tuesday, June 7, at Atlantic with a 5:30 p.m. game.

Also on Saturday, Greenfield plays in Gonzales at 10 a.m. against Manzanita. The winner of that contest plays on Tuesday against Hollister at Hartnell Little League.

King City starts TOC as the home team on June 7 against National with a 5:30 p.m. game. The TOC Major championship game will be played June 11 at 5 p.m. in Hollister.
