SALINAS VALLEY — Two Soledad men were arrested Monday after law enforcement officers executed three search warrants as part of an ongoing investigation into violent criminal activity in South Monterey County.
According to the Soledad Police Department, the warrants were served at about 6:30 a.m. on July 27 at two residences in Soledad and one property in the 62000 block of Argyle Road in King City. The operation involved Soledad police, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and crisis response teams from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation assigned to the Correctional Training Facility and Salinas Valley State Prison.
During the searches, investigators seized more than one kilogram of suspected cocaine, a loaded firearm and additional evidence, police said.
Arrested were Aaron Jeremiah Ramirez, 22, of Soledad, and Christopher Michael Ramirez, 20, of Soledad, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office in-custody log. Aaron Ramirez was booked on narcotics and firearms charges, while Christopher Ramirez was booked on firearms and criminal street gang charges, jail records show.
Police said the investigation remains active and additional follow-up is planned.
Soledad police also credited the King City, Greenfield and Gonzales police departments; the California Highway Patrol K-9 Unit; the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, including CTF and SVSP, and Parole; the Monterey County Probation Department; the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office; and the Fort Hunter Liggett Military Police for assisting with the operation.
“The Soledad Police Department remains committed to working with our law enforcement partners to protect our community and ensure those responsible for violent crime are held accountable,” the department said in a statement.
