SALINAS VALLEY — Food Bank for Monterey County hosted Thanksgiving meal distributions for hundreds of families in Greenfield, Soledad and King City on Nov. 22, just in time for the holiday.
City of Greenfield and the Greenfield Community Science Workshop helped organize and distribute the pozole kits in Greenfield, along with members of the Greenfield Rotary Club and the Center for Community Advocacy and other volunteers, such as Mee Memorial Healthcare System’s clinic team.
Greenfield’s next holiday food distribution is set for Tuesday, Dec. 20.
Rhode Island Rep. David Morales, who grew up in Soledad, paid a special visit to his hometown and assisted with its pozole kit distribution. He joined other helpers from the City of Soledad, Soledad Police Department, Soledad Aztecs baseball teams and the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Along with the Food Bank, other donations came from The Salvation Army and the Soledad Lions Club to support the community during this holiday season.
In King City, Children and the Country Life, a local nonprofit that provides resources to those in need, helped with the Food Bank’s distribution of holiday kits to more than 350 families.
