SOLEDAD — Soledad police arrested a local teenager last Saturday in connection with a stabbing that left another juvenile with a leg wound.
Officers responded at about 3:31 p.m. on Sept. 4 to a report of a stabbing at Gabilan Drive and Benito Street. Upon arrival, officers found a male juvenile suffering from a single stab wound to his leg. He was transported by American Medical Response to Natividad Medical Center for treatment.
Police said the victim was uncooperative during the initial investigation. Officers also learned that about 10 minutes had passed between the incident and when police were notified, leaving investigators with limited information about the circumstances.
Following a continued investigation, officers identified the suspect as a 17-year-old Soledad resident. At about 7:24 a.m. on Sept. 5, officers located and took the teen suspect into custody in the 500 block of Benito Street.
As part of the investigation, officers later executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence, where they located additional evidence related to the stabbing, according to police.
“Based on the information gathered during the investigation, officers have confirmed that this was an isolated incident, and there is no known ongoing threat to public safety,” said Soledad police.
Because the suspect is a juvenile, police added that no additional identifying information will be released.
