GREENFIELD — Just before 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 9, officers from the Greenfield Police Department responded to a shooting in the 200 block of Third Street.

Several individuals approached a victim seated in his car and fired multiple rounds, according to police. Fortunately, the gunfire did not strike the driver, but did cause damage to the vehicle.

“Our officers and detectives canvassed the area, speaking with community members and obtaining home surveillance footage. However, we believe that the key to solving this case may still be out there,” police said.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is urged to contact Detective Sgt. Mattke at 831-233-1302 or Detective Lerma at 831-601-8376. Information can be provided anonymously, police said.

“Remember, it is the strength of our community that has helped us solve crimes in the past,” police said. “Greenfield is a place where neighbors look out for each other, where we care about each other’s safety and well-being. Time and time again, your vigilance, your courage to speak up, has made all the difference.”
