GREENFIELD — Greenfield Police Department has made two arrests linked to the ongoing issues of gang violence in South Monterey County.

On Friday, 21-year-old Romeo Tejeda-Gonzalez was taken into custody on Highway 101 south of Gonzales. He was wanted for his involvement in a series of gang-related shootings that have plagued the area over the past 18 months.

Authorities also arrested Tejeda-Gonzalez’s brother, 19-year-old Ulises Tejeda-Gonzalez, for allegedly aiding and abetting a fugitive.

Law enforcement officials are cautioning the public that it is illegal to knowingly provide support to felons evading arrest, with serious legal consequences for those involved.

“We want to emphasize the importance of community involvement in addressing these serious issues,” police said. “Gangs are actively recruiting our youth, and we must come together to put an end to this cycle of violence.”

Greenfield Police, in collaboration with multiple allied agencies, remains committed to ensuring the safety of the community.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to combat gang violence and keep Greenfield and South Monterey County safe,” police said.

Anyone with information related to suspicious activities or recent homicides is asked to contact their local police department or the National Crime Tip Hotline at 1-800-782-7463, with the option to remain anonymous.
