GREENFIELD — A Greenfield man was sentenced to four years in state prison after pleading guilty to three residential burglaries committed in the city earlier this year, according to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office.
On Aug. 28, a judge sentenced Omar Onofre, 22, on charges stemming from a series of burglaries between March 3 and March 12, 2026. Onofre was convicted of three felony counts of residential burglary and one misdemeanor count of criminal invasion of privacy.
The three burglary convictions constitute “strikes” under California’s Three Strikes Law, the District Attorney’s Office said.
Onofre entered multiple Greenfield residences during nighttime and early morning hours with the intent to steal personal property, including wallets and cellphones.
Witnesses and victims provided law enforcement with descriptions of the suspect, helping investigators identify Onofre. He was subsequently arrested and confessed to Greenfield police detectives that he had committed the burglaries.
During the investigation, law enforcement also recovered several items reported stolen from victims at Onofre’s residence.
