KING CITY — King City Police Department has announced that Adrian Vasquez Martinez, a 22-year-old resident of Greenfield, was arrested on Feb. 27 in connection with a shooting that occurred last year.
King City detectives, along with officers from the Greenfield Police Department and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, served a search warrant at Martinez’s residence on the 200 block of Tom Rogers Circle, where they seized several items of evidence related to the incident.
Martinez is facing several charges, including attempted murder with gang enhancements, discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury and shooting into an inhabited dwelling. He is currently being held at Monterey County Jail as the investigation continues.
The shooting incident took place on Sept. 29, 2024, when King City Police responded to reports of shots fired at a backyard party on the 600 block of Sycamore Street. Two suspects entered through a side gate, one armed with a handgun, and opened fire on the crowd, injuring two males — one 16 and the other 18 — who were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Melinda Mendoza, a 19-year-old King City resident, was arrested shortly after the shooting on Oct. 2, 2024. She is currently awaiting trial on multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and attempted homicide.
“The investigation is ongoing,” police said. “The King City Police Department would like to thank the Greenfield Police Department and the California Department of Corrections for their assistance.”
