The Oct. 7 tournament was a fundraiser for the Gonzales High School boys soccer program and is played in memory of former head soccer coach Juan Flores, who died in 2021.

The teams that participated in the tournament included players from Gonzales, Greenfield, Soledad and Salinas.

The six teams played each other and the top two teams earned a trip the championship game. The games were played using half of the soccer field.

“The finals game was tied after regulation at 2-2,” said Gonzales High School varsity head coach Miguel Vidauri. “After the teams couldn’t score in extra time, the title was decided in penalties.”
