GONZALES — Gonzales Rx Pharmacy owner Jimmy Eitoku was honored with the VIDA (Virus Integrated Distribution of Aid) Champion Award during the Gonzales City Council meeting on Feb. 7.

Eitoku has been an instrumental partner and champion through the Covid-19 pandemic, working alongside the city’s Community Health Workers team to reduce barriers to vaccines and testing.

“When I first heard of the pandemic hitting us, I worried about not being able to protect my community, and vowed to do everything possible,” Eitoku commented on social media. “I was only doing my job as a pharmacist, and was greatly helped by the City of Gonzales’ staff and other volunteers to fight this virus.”
