SOLEDAD — Monterey County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol responded Sunday at about 6:45 p.m. to a report of individuals being chased in a vehicle in the 41000 block of Los Coches Road, south of Soledad.

When units arrived, they found two unresponsive males with apparent gunshot wounds. Both victims died on scene despite life-saving measures.

Their identities have not been released, pending next-of-kin notification.

“At this time, this investigation is ongoing,” stated Monterey County Sheriff’s Office in a news release Monday.

UPDATE: The victims have been identified as Jack Canchola, 20, and his cousin Andres “Chavita” Garcia, 26, both from Soledad.
