MONTEREY COUNTY — What are the greatest internet service needs in Monterey County? Tell the County about it in a new survey — the second phase of the County of Monterey’s efforts toward future broadband investment.
In January, the community chimed in with the County’s first survey about high-speed internet service — where it is or is lacking — to help build an accurate map of broadband service in our area.
This second survey focuses on needs that will help create a countywide Broadband Strategic Plan. Outcomes of the survey will include the identification of underserved populations, priority projects, operational solutions and grant funding to outline options for high-speed, reliable and affordable broadband connectivity. These are “last mile” projects to directly improve service.
Take the survey at MCBroadbandForAll.org. The speed test survey is also still active, and the community can take both, which are available in Spanish and English.
This project is backed with federal funds secured by the Golden State Finance Authority (GSFA). The GSFA is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) governed by a Board of Directors comprised of elected members of the Board of Supervisors from each of its 39 member counties. Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez represents Monterey County on the Board.
