GREENFIELD — Greenfield Bruins baseball team saw their history-breaking season end on Saturday, when they lost to Prospect High in the Central Coast Section Division VI quarterfinals.

Since March 7, the Bruins went 16-1 and swept through the Cypress league. From the time league play started, they took off and never looked back.

During their run to their second Cypress league title, the Bruins won all their games by five runs or more except for two. They went undefeated in league play for the first time in school history, and finished with an overall record of 17-6.

With the league title wrapped up, the Bruins only had to wait to see where they would get placed. They got the fifth seed in the quarterfinals and faced the fourth seed, Prospect.

Greenfield’s magic, however, ran out as they fell to Prospect, 10-0.

This Bruins team will go down in history as one of the most accomplished teams in the school’s history. They were able to bring the Bruins in rare air this season.
