GREENFIELD — Greenfield Police Chief Guillermo Mixer said Thursday the department remains focused on solving the June 22 double homicide at a local gas station.
In a message posted on social media, Mixer offered condolences to the families of the victims, 32-year-old Elizabeth Saavedra of Soledad and 26-year-old Aldo Juan Mandujano of King City, who were killed in the shooting.
“There are no words that can ease the weight of what our community is carrying after the loss of two lives on June 22,” Mixer wrote. “To the families and loved ones left grieving, please know that you are in our hearts. Your pain is felt across this entire community, and you do not walk through it alone.”
Greenfield police continue to investigate the incident, which has been described as a targeted attack involving rival gang members. (Mandujano has been linked to a gang but not Saavedra, who was a local mother and folklórico instructor.)
According to the Greenfield Police Department, officers responded to a reported shooting at about 10:50 p.m. on June 22 at the Fastrip Gas Station, 145 El Camino Real, where Saavedra and Mandujano were found dead.
Mixer said detectives continue to work alongside law enforcement partners while following leads in the case.
“This investigation remains an active and top priority for the Greenfield Police Department,” Mixer wrote. “Our detectives are working tirelessly alongside our law enforcement partners, following every lead and using every resource available to us. Behind every step of this case are people who are just as determined as you are to see justice done.”
Mixer said authorities cannot release additional details because the homicide investigation remains active.
“Please understand that we protect this information not to keep the community at a distance, but to safeguard the integrity of the case and to ensure that those responsible are held fully accountable,” he wrote.
Mixer urged anyone with information to contact investigators, saying even small details could help move the case forward.
“If you have any information related to this case, no matter how small it may seem, we ask you to reach out to the Greenfield Police Department,” Mixer wrote. “A single detail could make all the difference.”
