To the Editor:

I would like to express my deep appreciation to the First Tee program at the King City Recreation Center. As an aunt, I was looking for something meaningful for my niece to do over summer break — something beyond simply being on her phone or lounging around the house.

A friend mentioned First Tee, and after receiving an email from the Recreation Center about their activities, I decided to enroll her. I thought, “What do we have to lose?”

To my surprise, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I made all summer. Each day my niece would be full of energy and excitement, eager to share all the fun things she had done and the new friends she had made. I soon learned that the program was completely free — an incredible bonus! The schedule offered both half-day and full-day options, and of course, she begged to stay for the full day, which only proved how much she loved it.

At the end of the summer, she was truly sad for it to end. Thankfully, the director explained that additional programs would continue into August, including a special trip to Pebble Beach Golf Course. Riding the school bus there with her friends was a highlight she will never forget.

I am sincerely grateful to the First Tee program for providing such an enriching and joyful experience. Not only did she have fun, but she grew, made new friends and built lasting memories. Seeing her so happy each day was priceless. Thank you to the staff and sponsors who made this opportunity possible — you truly made her summer unforgettable.
