SOLEDAD — Soledad City Council recognized October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month during its Oct. 7 meeting, presenting a proclamation to the Soledad Community Health Care District.

Brian Weaver accepted the proclamation on behalf of the district and the Soledad Medical Clinic. During the presentation, Weaver emphasized the importance of raising awareness, honoring those affected by breast cancer and encouraging eligible community members to schedule routine screenings.

“On behalf of the Soledad Community Healthcare District and the Soledad Medical Clinic, we thank you, Mayor and City Council, for this proclamation, recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” Weaver said. “We honor those facing breast cancer, survivors and the loved ones we have lost. Early detection matters. We urge everyone to encourage a loved one to schedule a mammogram when eligible and speak to a healthcare provider promptly about any concerning breast changes.”

As part of its efforts to improve access to preventive healthcare, the Soledad Community Health Care District is partnering with Central California Alliance for Health and Alinea Medical Imaging to bring mobile 2-D digital mammography services to Soledad.

Women ages 40 to 74 are encouraged to sign up for an upcoming screening. Appointments are encouraged, and space is limited.

Upcoming mobile mammography dates are Oct. 23, Nov. 20 and Dec. 18.

Patients whose primary health coverage is through Central California Alliance for Health may qualify for a $50 gift card if they meet all program eligibility requirements. Additional eligibility information is available through the health plan.

Community members can learn more and complete an appointment request form at soledadmedicalclinic.com/mobile-mammography.

The city and the health care district encourage residents to speak with their healthcare providers about recommended breast cancer screenings and any concerning changes.
