GONZALES — Gonzales Spartans’ wrestling team hosted the Spartan Winter Crucible at Gonzales High School on Dec. 9. 

More than 300 wrestlers from schools across the county participated in the tournament.

The Spartans’ Josiah Rosales, who wrestled at 215 pounds, was able to keep the gold at Gonzales. He beat Myles Jackson of Salinas to secure first place in his weight class. 

The Lady Spartan wrestlers were able to keep some medals at Gonzales. Gracie Leon, who wrestled in the 125-pound weight class, took first place, while teammate Jozelyn Reyes took third in her weight class.
