GONZALES — Gonzales High School wrestlers Clarissa Rico and Cherish Yebra won medals at the Trojan Wrath Girls Wrestling Tournament that took place at Alisal High School on Dec. 28.

Rico went 3-1 to win the consolation championship. Yebra finished with a 3-2 record to place fourth.

At the Pat Lovell Classic in Aptos on Dec. 27-28, Josiah Rosales-Garcia went 3-3 to place eighth for the Spartan boys. Nelson Cisneros did not place but finished with a 3-2 record. More than 60 teams competed in the tournament.

Last Tuesday, the Gonzales girls hosted the first dual meets of the year against Soledad and Pajaro Valley. Then, last Wednesday, the Spartan boys’ wrestling team traveled to North Salinas to wrestle North Monterey County.
