MONTEREY COUNTY — Voting is underway for the June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election in Monterey County, with ballots mailed and early voting options now open or scheduled across the county.
Monterey County Elections officials said local voter information guides began mailing April 23, with ballot mailings completed by May 4. State voter information guides are also being distributed.
All active registered voters are receiving mail ballots, though in-person voting options are available throughout the county.
Several key deadlines and voting opportunities remain ahead of Election Day.
Key election dates
- May 4: In-person voting begins at the Monterey County Elections Office, 1441 Schilling Place, Salinas
- May 18: Last day to register to vote
- May 19: Same-day voter registration begins
- May 23: Saturday voting, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monterey County Elections Office, 1441 Schilling Place, Salinas
- May 28: Last day the Elections Office will mail ballots; recommended last day to return ballots by USPS
- May 29: Early voting opens at the Elections Satellite Office, Embassy Suites, 1441 Canyon Del Rey Blvd., Seaside
- May 30-31: Weekend voting, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Salinas and Seaside locations
- June 2: Election Day; voting ends at 8 p.m.
The county’s “Books and Ballots” program will also provide early in-person voting at South Monterey County libraries.

- May 20: Soledad Library, 401 Gabilan Drive, Soledad, 1-6 p.m.
- May 21: Greenfield Library, 351 El Camino Real, Greenfield, 1-6 p.m.
- May 22: King City Library, 402 Broadway St., King City, 1-6 p.m.

Voters can track ballots, check registration status and find polling locations through county and state election websites.
