SOUTH COUNTY — The King City, Soledad and Gonzales High School volleyball teams began non-league games this week to kick off the season.

The Lady Mustangs of King City start the season tomorrow night at home against the Alisal High Trojans and Soledad starts tomorrow by hosting the North Salinas Vikings in the Aztec Gym.

King City plays at North Salinas on Monday, Aug. 28, and starts league on Sept. 12 at Pacific Grove. Soledad continues the non-league schedule on Aug. 29 at Gilroy High and will host the Everett Alvarez Eagles on Thursday, Aug. 31.

Gonzales High hosted Everett Alvarez on Monday and will resume play on Monday, Aug. 28, in Castroville against the North Monterey County Condors. The following night the Spartans travel to Watsonville to battle the Pajaro Valley Grizzlies. Greenfield High School begins play in the Coastal League at home on Sept. 5 against the St. Francis Sharks.
