South County police departments in the cities of Gonzales, Soledad, Greenfield and King City are working together to strengthen their regional law enforcement.

Gonzales Adult School and Sun Street Centers are joining together to bring health awareness presentations to parents in Gonzales. The next presentation is scheduled for Feb. 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Parent Resource Center, Room C.

Gonzales High School Sober Graduation Committee and Goodwill Central Coast will be joining forces once again for a donation drive this Saturday and Sunday at the Gonzales Shopping Center.

This Saturday Project Sentinel, a non-profit organization, is holding a Fair Housing Pop-up Clinic to assist individuals with housing problems.

The County of Monterey and the California Parks Company have announced the reopening of Lake San Antonio, which has been closed since July 2015 due to the drought.

All Monterey County Free Libraries (MCFL) branches will be closed from Dec. 22 through Jan. 1 for the winter recess.

Gonzales law enforcement worked with the community and local youth as well as sent out surveys during its two-year grant from the Strengthen Law Enforcement and Community Grant Program.

Following unprecedented water conservation and plentiful winter rain and snow, Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. ended the drought state of emergency in most of California on April 7.
