Over the next week the Gonzales Police Department will be hosting two events, including a Drug Take Back Day on Saturday and a Haunted Police Department event on Halloween.

Fifteen years ago on April 25 the Human Genome Project was completed. To commemorate that achievement, ARCpoint Labs of Monterey Bay Director Spenser Smith visited the Monterey County Free Libraries Gonzales Branch last Wednesday to celebrate National DNA Day.

Pinnacles National Park will receive a field trip grant for the 2018-19 school year from the National Park Foundation, the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service. This $5,200 grant will be used to help underserved schools with the cost of transportation to Pinnacles National Park.

In August 2016, members of the Gonzales City Council were given a presentation by Harris and Associates regarding the Gonzales Old Town Low Impact Development (GOT LID) project, designed to change Center Street from Sixth to Ninth streets.

Monterey County Pops! orchestra’s “Salute to Veterans” concerts, performed in conjunction with the Veterans Day weekend, have been so well-received by hundreds of South County residents for the past four years that the Pops are bringing it back for another free concert at the King City High School Auditorium.
