More than 500 supporters attended the annual Salinas Valley Fair kickoff dinner, dance and auction fundraiser Saturday in King City, raising funds for the Fair and the Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation, both nonprofits.

Gonzales High School student Adilenne “Addy” Ramirez has been named to Girls State after being approved by the Gonzales American Legion Auxiliary Unit 81.

A group of Gonzales High School students recently visited the East Coast to take tours at such colleges as Georgetown, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Columbia, Yale, Brown, Harvard, MIT and Boston University.

Hartnell Community College District hosted a ceremony last Thursday at its King City Education Center to welcome 31 students from South County who are part of the second cohort of the Teacher Pathway Program.
