GONZALES — Trick-or-treaters were given a fright on Halloween when they visited the Haunted Gonzales Police Department.
The Haunted Police Department on Oct. 31 is now in its second year and came about due to a collaboration between the Gonzales Police Officers Association and Police Chief Keith Wise. The free event was a way for the public to celebrate Halloween in a safe way.
Several of the haunted house goers went through multiple times to see all the different elements of the maze.
The haunted house was organized by Sgt. Santiago Melgoza and involves volunteers from family members, spouses and children of the police officers.
According to Wise, there were also more than a dozen Gonzales High School theatrical students in costumes throughout the haunted police department, and City Manager Rene Mendez, Mayor Maria Orozco and the Police Explorers were also part of the event.
