SOLEDAD — At around 3 p.m. March 26, Soledad Police Department received a call of a structure fire on Nestles Road in Soledad.

Officers arrived to find one of the abandoned buildings on fire.

Officers were then directed to a suspect who fled toward the rear of the property. They briefly chased the suspect, who tried to hide but was taken into custody. He was later identified as Elton Turner.

SPD was assisted in the emergency response by the Greenfield and King City police departments, while the Soledad Fire Department, Greenfield Fire Department, CTF Fire Department, and CalFire worked to bring the fire under control.

Turner was later booked into the Monterey County Jail on multiple charges related to the fire.
