Sunday night shooting injures 2 in Soledad

Suspects still at large, according to police

SOLEDAD — Soledad Police Department is investigating a shooting Sunday night that injured two people.

According to police, officers responded to the shooting at about 10 p.m. on Aug. 29 in the 1500 block of Palm Avenue, where they found two gunshot victims in the driveway of the complex.

Witnesses told the officers that there were three suspects, who were possibly in one of the apartments.

Mutual aid was requested and numerous units from the Greenfield and King City police departments, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, the California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire Law Enforcement responded to the scene to assist.

After searching two apartments and the surrounding area, police determined that the suspects fled on foot prior to the officers’ arrival.

The victims are recovering from their injuries, police said.

“Our detectives are continuing to investigate the incident,” Soledad Police stated in a news release.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Det. Santiago at 223-5139 or Det. Solis at 223-2176, or call the anonymous WeTip line at 1-800-782-7463.
