GONZALES — Few school clubs have an impact on their community like the Community Service Involvement Interact Club of Fairview Middle School.

Though the Community Service Involvement Interact Club of Fairview Middle School (CSI: FMS) is only in its second year at Fairview, they have managed to get noticed in the City of Gonzales and around Monterey County. The group is not just interested in what’s for them; the club looks for projects that will help others.

Joni Madolora is the adviser for this 24-member club that is based on community service. The Gonzales Rotary International is the sponsors of the Community Service Involvement (CSI) Interact Club and also sponsor the Gonzales High School Interact Club.

This middle school service club is for seventh- and eighth-grade students. Each month they sponsor a range of local, state, national and international service activities and learning projects. These projects range from such things as Community Cancer Awareness, California State Beach Cleanup, the Veteran’s Day Assembly and Luncheon for local veterans; and Literacy International book collection for the Philippines, just to name a few. At Christmas, the club provided and wrapped gifts for children in the community that might not have had a gift.

The CSI: FMS Interact will close their year by honoring all staff on May 10 for nurturing all students, and later they will celebrate their own community service accomplishments with an end-of-year barbecue.
