SOLEDAD — Soledad Unified School District’s Rose Ferrero Elementary School has been recognized by Innovate Public Schools in its 2025 Top Public Schools Report as one of California’s top-performing schools for closing opportunity gaps for Latino students and preparing them for college success.

Out of 9,158 public schools statewide, only 550 schools (6%) earned this distinction.

Rose Ferrero Elementary was identified for its outstanding results in English Language Arts and Mathematics, where 46% of Latino students met or exceeded standards in ELA and 41% in Math during the 2023-24 school year.

“This recognition is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our staff, students and families,” said Superintendent Randy Bangs. “Rose Ferrero exemplifies our district’s commitment to equity, excellence and ensuring that every child in Soledad has access to a high-quality education that opens doors to future success.”

Innovate Public Schools is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering parents and families to advocate for excellent and equitable schools for all children. The Top Public Schools Report highlights schools that are making exceptional progress in closing achievement gaps for Black and Latino students across California.

“Every student deserves a high-quality education that prepares them for college,” said Rashmeen Kaur, director of research and policy at Innovate. “Schools like Rose Ferrero show what’s possible when educators and communities work together to ensure all students can succeed.”

In a press release Oct. 12, Soledad Unified School District gave special acknowledgement to the leadership of Rose Ferrero Principal Tommy Frank and congratulated the entire elementary school community on this “outstanding accomplishment.”
